Let the right one in

Ok, Before I show you a really nice makeup tutorial,  I would like to share with you some foundation tips.

Foundation alert

1.Check your skin type  – oily, dry, combination or normal  ( I will dedicate a post just on the skin types )

2. Select the  correct foundation color  .You can check this by applying the foundation on the line of your jar and it also needs to match with your neck . Please note that you can have two different foundations colors,  one for summer and another for the winter time .

FAIL

3. Select the best foundation for you  ( compact / liquid / stick )

1. Liquid foundation / 2. stick foundation / 3. Compact foundation

4. On the image  you can see the difference between the compact and the liquid foundations. This is also the test you do on the back of your hand to check the foundations differences.  The compact ( it’ll give a better coverage,  also better for bad skin )  it´s more condensed and doesn’t drain.  On the other hand the  liquid foundation is more moisturized and drains more easily .

How to apply the foundation

You can apply the foundation with your hands , the foundation brush or a sponge. My advise is to use the foundation brush, because if you use your fingersnails it will not give the best coverage . On the other hand if you use the sponge , it will absort a good amount of your foundation . Anyways you need to choose what is the best for you.

1. Pro wedges sponges / 2. Foundation Mac brush / 3. Sephora Beauty blender sponge

I selected this videos because the tutorial girl  uses another type of foundation brush and she also mixes two foundations ( which you can also do  ) . Enjoy !

Where can you buy it?

You can get the make up brushes and  spondges in Sephora , Boots, Superdrug …. any beauty spots. If  you don´t really want to spend much money, you should probably go to ebay and buy individual brushes / sponges or get a small brush set case  for only 7 euros and the quality is not that bad. I bought my 1st brush set case on ebay and I was quite  happy about it.

1. Ebay.co.uk / Uk Lydia Black 7pcs make up set with black case – £4.79

We need to talk about Capes

Capes. Capes are fun , fashionable , practical and all kinds of cozy . With the right pair of jeans and a versatile top, it will take us to a whole new level of style.

G for Givenchy

1. Nasty Gal.com / kazzbar cape / €84.96

2. Whittle / Batwing metalic cape / €120

Get inspired and wear a cape

1. http://lookbook.nu/luanna

The New Yorker blogger Luanna is wearing a groovy fringe fluid cape from shopmarkethq .The look suits  her  perfectly  .  The combination of a simple pair of black boots, a lace blouse and mesh tights  it makes it just fabulous !

2.http://lookbook.nu/ontheracks

The San Francisco Blogger Laura . Love how she added the Alexander wang cape into the outfit. Again it´s quite a simple look but the cape make it more versatile with all the drapping going on in her shoulder.

3. http://lookbook.nu/kryz

The Manila blogger Luanna Kryz Uy outfit has a lot to say. Her outfit it´s the “all about the details” type.  Although it is a  simple outfit , I adore the asymmetricity of the  cape and the accessories , it really give it a  nice touch . Where did she get the cape ? http://wagw.multiply.com/

A Real Hero

I had to dedicate this post to the new Nicolas winding Refn  remarkable movie, Drive.  No frame or soundtrack is wasted on this beautiful picture, it´s a cheap almost tacky movie . But I love it.

You will see this amazing intriguing chemistry between the main characters, a lot of denim outfits, 80´s  melodies , brief dialogues , slow motion moments and a eventual gold  scorpion on the back of a jacket .

Striking moments: The delightful slow motion kiss after the main character beats horribly down the bad guy in front of the girl.

Does it worth a popcorn ? Definitely !

The ponytail experience

Following the last post, I have a couple of  ponytail hairstyles that I would like to share it with you . I have already tried this hairstyles and I can assure you that it´s actually pretty easy to do.

If  you have a long beautiful hair you don´t really need the hair extensions. The hair extensions it will make your  ponytail look longer and wider and don´t worry because it does not look fake at all (  but you need to pick the matching color to your hair  )

With each image I attached a how to video , that´s going to help you to achieve the look that you have picked .

By the way don´t forget to buy bobby pins !!

Have fun!

3. Olivia Wilde / 4. Blake Lively

5.Three braided wrap around ponytail / 6. braided wrap around ponytail

On this video she has a curly / wavy hair , but it´s the exact  same process you only have repeat the warping around the ponytail  as many times as you would like , so it give you the layered  look ( image 5 ).

7. Rope Braided ponytail

I bought my clip on ponytail hair extensions this summer. It was a life saver! It was really hot  in Portugal and I had to use my hair tight also because of my job, so I discovered this  ponytail extension on eBay ( it was around 15  € ) ! My hair is quite long but it´s really thin so I bought it anyways.

So, If you don´t want to spend too much time doing your hair in the mornings or you don´t want to spend time at all “messing” with your hair , this is the perfect solution! This only takes 5 minutes and it looks really amazing.

This is not real human hair but it´s a Japanese kanekalon fiber  this means that it´s high heat resistant  and you can wash it as well.

I also selected a really good video on YouTube that will teach you steps-by-step in how to wear the ponytail hair extensions.  Please note that on the video she uses hair extentions that´s why I also post the image above with the ponytail extension instructions so you can pick which one you like the best.

Enjoy !

1. Ponytail extension/ 2. Fergie

These are the things that you are going to need in order to do the perfect ponytail.

1. Hair gel / hairspray / hair wax gel  2. Hair elastic band  3. Hair brush 4. Hair wax gel 5. Small elastic bands 6. hair straighteners ( optional )
